100 Security Experts Say the Fable Ban Is Backfiring
Over 100 CISOs, researchers, and security executives signed an open letter this week asking the U.S. government to lift export controls on Anthropic's Fable and Mythos models.
Their argument: the same bug-finding capabilities exist in GPT-5.5, Opus, Sonnet, and Chinese models like Kimi 2.7. Fable isn't uniquely dangerous. It's just uniquely restricted, which means defenders lost a tool attackers already have alternatives for.
Signatories include Bruce Schneier, the former NSA Chief Responsible AI Officer, and CISOs from Zoom, Sophos, and DigitalOcean.
