“Opus” is Latin for “work.” In classical music, it became the word used to catalogue a composer’s major works, which is how we ended up with names like Opus 10 and Opus 27.
Anthropic has now given the word a very 2026 update: Opus 5.5 does more work for less money. Somewhere, a 19th-century composer is furious they never got a 40% price cut.

In 2016, "I'll Google it" was still a slightly nerdy thing to say.
Today it's how everyone finds a doctor, plans a holiday or settles an argument. The internet didn't replace anyone. It just made the people who used it well look effortless at everything.
AI is doing the same thing right now, only faster. The person who drafts the report, builds the tracker and clears their inbox by 11 AM isn't working harder. They've just got the right tools open.
You can be that person by Saturday afternoon.
The 3-Hour AI Tools Workshop is a live session on the 15 AI tools that actually matter in 2026, and exactly which one to use for what: research, writing, design, data, code, automation. Then you build your own AI co-worker that keeps working after you close the laptop.
You'll walk out able to:
Pick the right tool for the job instead of dumping everything into one chatbox
Make AI do the research, reading and first drafts
Build apps, dashboards and workflows with zero code
Chain tools together so repetitive work runs itself
Plus a bonus follow-up session on the workflows worth stealing.
🗓️ This Saturday, 10 AM EST
🕒 3 hours live + bonus sessions
💸 Worth $395. Free for readers.

Claude Opus 5.5’s visuals are giving goosebumps
Anthropic introduced Claude Opus 5.5, the first model in its new Claude 5.5 family. Anthropic says it performs at the level of Claude Fable 5.1 on most work while costing 40% less to run than Opus 5 at default settings.
Input tokens now cost $4 per million and output tokens $20 per million. Anthropic also says Opus 5.5 produces output over 30% faster than Opus 5. The bigger story is efficiency. High-end capability is becoming cheaper to deploy in everyday coding and knowledge work.
Snorkel AI Triples Its Valuation
Snorkel AI raised a $350 million Series E at a $3.5 billion valuation, nearly triple its previous $1.3 billion valuation. The company says its annualized revenue run rate has reached $375 million as demand for specialized AI training data grows.
Models may be getting better at generating their own data, but companies are still paying heavily for curated datasets, simulated environments, and domain expertise. Better AI has not made the data business disappear.

Nscale Reveals a Concentrated AI Bet
AI infrastructure company Nscale disclosed more than $103 billion in contracts ahead of its planned IPO. About 85% of that value comes from agreements with Microsoft and Anthropic.
That is a lot of contracted demand resting on very few relationships. Nscale’s filing gives a useful look at how tightly connected AI labs, cloud providers, chip companies, and data-center operators have become.
Apple Wants AI Running on Your Desk
Apple is making an unusual pitch for its upgraded Mac Mini and Mac Studio: for some AI workloads, buying the computer could cost less than continually renting cloud infrastructure. Some configurations approach $20,000.
Apple demonstrated four Mac Studios working together on a trillion-parameter model. For companies running predictable workloads every day, local AI is becoming an economic decision, not just a privacy preference.
