Apple Tries to Delay OpenAI's First AI Device
Apple has sued OpenAI over alleged trade secret misuse involving former Apple executives, including ex-iPhone design chief Tang Tan.
The lawsuit seeks to delay OpenAI's upcoming AI hardware, reportedly a screen-free, camera-equipped smart device planned for release in 2027. The case is unrelated to Apple's ChatGPT partnership for Siri.

OpenAI reports Sol beats Anthropic's Fable 5 by 2.8 points on the Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index, using under half the output tokens. Anthropic spent June on the other side of the same gate, Fable 5 and Mythos 5 pulled for non-US customers. Fable 5 came back July 1, Mythos 5 has not.

Two Statements Pulled Meta's AI Remix Feature in 48 Hours
Meta launched Muse, which let anyone @-mention a public Instagram account to generate images referencing that account's work. Opt-out, not opt-in.
CAA objected on Wednesday, saying nobody's name, likeness, voice or work should be used without documented consent. SAG-AFTRA followed. Meta pulled the feature Friday evening and said it "missed the mark."
